Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday to our handsome boy!

At first he was not so sure of the cake but that did not last long. He ended up LOVING the cake. He may have possibly eaten the entire thing if we had let him.

We love our Corbin! He is such a cuddly, sweetheart. We love having him in our family! Also, We took him to the doc and he is a very healthy boy, FINALLY!

Scratch and Reveal

This year for Christmas I really wanted to focus on doing activities as a family. To accopmlish this goal I created the scratch and reveal Christmas advent calendar. It is super fun, inexpensive and even Eva liked to scratch the cards and do the activities.
Here are some pictures of the calendar:

How it works:
You need one activity per card for each day in December.
Each day you scratch the card to reveal the activity for the day.
Then you complete the activity.
Remember, they do not need to be extravagant, well planned out activities.
Some activities we have done include: reading Christmas stories, rootbeer floats, pizza party, ornament making, temple square, Christmas movie, etc.

How to make it:
go to this website and it has all the info!

If you go to this website and create an account you will be able to download the card pattern, type your activity for each day and print them off.

Scratch 'n' Gift DIY Advent Calendar

Advent clips (I used paper clips)
What you'll need:
25 1" wood circles, small number stickers (1-25), 2 colors of acrylic paint, paintbrush, 25 miniature clothespins, tacky glue
Make it:
1. Press a number sticker firmly on the center of each wooden circle. Apply acrylic paint over sticker and remove sticker immediately; let paint dry.
2. Paint the front of the clothespins in the second color; let dry.
3. Glue wooden circle to top of clothespin.

Advent cards
What you'll need:
Cardstock, scissors, clear packing tape, dish soap, acrylic paint, paintbrush, string
Make it:
1. Download the Advent cards using Adobe Acrobat Reader. All card text can be altered; customize it as you like.
2. Print cards onto cardstock and cut each one out along the dashed lines.
3. Place a piece of packing tape over the center of the card, covering text.
4. Mix 1 part dish soap to 2 parts acrylic paint and paint over the packing tape. Allow to dry completely. Once dry, repeat the process for a second coat.
5. Hang cards on string with clips.

FYI- when painting I used 1 tablespoon of dish soap and 2 tablespoons of paint and it was more than enough paint for 2 coats on each card.

This is the picture we are using for our Christmas cards. We have been trying to think of a cheesy phrase to put on the card as well and have decided on "Now your Christmas wont be blue, thanks to this card we've sent to you." 2 of our 3 ducks are in the picture (the brown duck was too quick)because we think it is funny when people take family pictures with their dogs or other pets. Anyway, Merry Christmas.

In October my family ran the Las Vegas Ragnar and we had a blast. If you ever have the chance to run a Ragnar race DO it. Even if you are not a great runner the van experience is well worth it. Truthfully the time in the van is what makes it fun.

Anniversary!

Ryan and I celebrated our 4 year wedding anniversary on August 9. We went camping for our anniversary and had a blast.

Roasting marshmallows

After we were done roasting marshmallows we decided to have some fun with the fire. We got a stick super hot and wrote our names and drew a bunch of designs. What a great anniversary.

Another Story about POOP!

So, the other morning I gave both of my children a bath. After the bath we went into the kids room to get clothes, etc. Eva decided she was hungry and wanted breakfast. I left Corbin and all his nakedness in his room to play for a bit while I got Eva food. I then got distracted. I finally realized I should probably go check on Corbin since he had no clothes on. I had this gut feeling that something happened but I did not want to believe it.

When I got to him........

this is what I found.

Folks, look close. What is on his face? Yes, that is poop on his face. He was eating it and loving it!

Oh yuck, yuck, yuck! I sort of froze not knowing what to do and not knowing where or how to start cleaning up this mess.

Corbin was having a great time. He kept looking at me with a huge smile on his face while squealing. I have to admit it was darling walking in and seeing a completely naked boy look up at me with a huge smile and his eyes so full of innocence. How could I possibly be mad?

Eva was so sweet. When she heard me scream she ran in to see what was wrong. I showed her and she said, "Corbin pooped on the floor. Silly boy." She did her silly laugh then got me a couple rags. We got the mess cleaned up. We got it so clean you would never know it even happened and of course I put a diaper on Corbin.

Seriously, what is it with my children and poop.

Corbin's Room

Finally we got something manly for Corbin's room. I know right now he doesn't care that it is purple and has princess decorations everywhere but it makes me feel better having something manly for him.

Ryan was the genius behind this project and therefore deserves the majority of the credit. I did help paint a little.

First, Ryan traced a picture of an airplane onto a clear sheet. Then, he used a box to create this homemade projector. Which work very well.

Corbin has to wear a helmet for approximately 3-4 months depending on his growth. After he is done wearing it he will have a nice round head. He is such a trooper and does just fine wearing it. I love how the helmet surrounds his little pudgy face and squishes his cheeks when he smiles.

While in the process of getting the helmet it has made me thankful for many things. I am thankful for our wonderful pediatrician, for all the smart people who had the idea of helmets, modern technology, family, a happy, easy going baby boy and a huge thank you to my amazing brother Dallin who made Corbins helmet and gave us a sweet deal.

Mr. Handyman

When we first got our ducks we did not have a home for them so we put them in between two of our sheds. This worked pretty well but we needed a more permanent solution. Ryan, aka Mr. Handyman, found a few chicken coops online that he liked. He than got most of the supplies needed to make a coop and got right down to business. What I love about him is he uses things we already have laying around or he knows less expensive options when building. This coop became even less expensive when we discovered a giant roll of chicken wire left by the previous owners. Let me tell you, chicken wire is not the easiest thing to work with especially when it is old and bent in strange ways. He would have had the entire coop built in one day but the way I wanted was not working. So, after 3 failed attempts we devised a new plan. I am thankful Ryan is a handyman or else many things would not get finished around this house.

I cannot believe Eva is already 2!

I love her smile I just wish I could get a picture of it without her hand in the way.

She is growing up so fast. She no longer uses a pacifier, sleeps in a toddler bed, talks 100mph and is 80% potty trained. She has a new attachment to blankets and crying. She loves helping out with Corbin, saying prayers, singing and giving family hugs and kisses. We love our little bundle of joy!

Corbin loves to smile. He also is a great sleeper and eater. He sleeps through the night and takes two long naps during the day. He is not picky when it comes to food. He will eat whatever food I feed him. We could not ask for a better baby!

Baby Food

The other day I decided I was tired of buying baby food so I decided I would start making it instead. I have thought about making it before but never have because I thought it would be hard and I didn't know how. I was completely WRONG! It is super easy and it is nearly impossible to mess up. Plus, it saves MONEY!
With one sweet potato, costing $1.25, I made 8-4oz jars. Compared to $0.45 for one Beechnut brand 4oz jar or a 3.5oz 2pk of Gerber costing $1.50. Sweet deal.

Look how happy he is after eating the delicious food his mom made him. Eva was a great helper.

I had tons of extra baby food containers saved up from Eva so I used those to store all the food in.

So far I have made sweet potatoes, squash, carrots, beans, bananas, pears, and peaches. After making the baby food I wondered why I had not been making it all along. It is so easy! I plan on doing more foods and I plan on doing this for all future children.

In the future I plan on growing all this food in our garden so I can just go out and pick the food instead of having to buy it.

Can I just tell you that making baby food honestly makes me happy! :)

4 Months, Top Heavy

   Corbin is already 4 months old!!!! We love him so much. He is so laid back and happy. He loves to smile, laugh and play with his sister. He sleeps through the night and takes two LONG naps during the day - hooray!
I took Corbin to his 4 month appointment the other day and he is healthy but a tiny boy.
Stats:
Weight - 13lbs - 11%
Height - 24.5in - 29%
Head - 16in - 11%
   Poor boy is going to be the smallest kid in all his classes. I guess I shouldn't have expected anything other than that based on the size of his parents.
   Corbin has 2 ear infections which were a complete surprise since he has not been the least bit fussy. He also has some major eczema. The doc is thinking the cause of the eczema is a food allergy. Since Corbin is exclusively breastfed that means it is something I am eating causing the problem. The doc suspects it is dairy and told me not to eat dairy for 2-3 weeks. Talk about torture since ice cream and cheese are my FAVORITE! I suppose my dear sweet Corbin is worth the torture.

Corbin loves rice and isn't this bib so fitting.

It's crazy to me how much he already looks like a boy. Goodness he is handsome!

Apparently Eva is a little top heavy! She falls often and it just so happens to be her head getting injured.

This morning Eva looked outside and saw the snow then she looked at me with her big blue eyes and asked if she could go play in it. Of course I could not possibly say no because she is darling and she asked so nice. When I said, "yes" she was so excited! Seeing her excitement made my day. I love how the simplest things can make a child happy.

Lets just say Eva is a busy gal who keeps her momma workin' hard!

I am sure many mothers have stories similar to this one.

Yesterday I laid Eva down for a nap just like any other day. An hour later she woke up. Lately she has been napping 3-4 hours a day so, I left her in her room hoping she would fall back to sleep. I could hear her talking and playing with the door knob. Soon after she was saying, "wipe, wipe." I thought, "nice she has pooped. I get to change a another poopy diaper."
If only it were that EASY!

I went to let her out of the room but the door was locked! (still not sure if she actually pooped) The doorknob does not have a push lock you actually have to turn the button to lock it. Great, I could not use the old nail trick to push open the lock. Now what? I proceeded to take the doorknob off. Eva was already screaming and then to make matters worse the doorknob fell on her head. The door still did not open! It would have been too easy if it would have opened. A stupid metal piece was holding it shut and would not move. Not to mention the waft of poo that came through once I got the doorknob off. My conformation that she had pooped had it was a nasty one!

I kept hammering away at the dumb metal piece. Not budging.
I went outside to go through the window. Of course they were locked! Once again that would have been to easy if they were open (got to protect Eva from creepo's!). I went back inside. Eva still crying. I hammered some more. Eva kept poking her fingers through the hole which led to a few hits. Dang it!

I called my awesome brother, Micah, who was willing to come help. I was so ticked at this dumb doorknob I was beating it and twisting it like crazy. FINALLY after 45 mins it opened.

The door was a bit tough to open so I opened it just enough to squeeze through. WOW! her room stunk!
Oh how wonderful, Eva managed to take her diaper off and it was poop side down on the carpet. The reason why it was hard for me to open the door is because the diaper was partially under the door and I was smearing poo on the carpet while opening the door! Poop on the carpet, door and all over Eva. After 45 minutes of struggling to get the door open the poop had dried to Eva. I finally got most the poop off and got Eva in the bath. What a fun day!

Not to mention I had a onesie on her which used to stop her from getting to her diaper but apparently she can unsnap now.

Wow! The snow is GORGEOUS! I absoluetly love it! Don't get me wrong I prefer summer over winter any day but a fresh snowfall is stunning.
I just could not resist taking pictures of my darling children in the fresh snow.

My friend Maryann came to visit last week. We had so much fun talking and her daughter, Lia, is absolutely adorable! Corbin is older than Lia by 5 days. Looking at this picture it looks like Corbin is a midget.

They better be friends because their mothers are going to be getting together often.

Wow Eva looks like a giant! Of course she is tiny but I will give her some credit. She just had to join the babies in the pictures.

Lia was so calm while Corbin was squirming and making noise the entire time. The pacifier is the only thing that calmed the kid down long enough to take pictures.

Cousins/Pregnancy Update

The other day we tried to take some Christmas pictures of Eva and Avree and it was quite the task. Neither of them wanted to hold still. When one on standing the other was sitting. One would look at the camera and the other was looking off in to space. Of course, Eva had not slept all day so she was crying and wanted every thing her way. We did manage to get some cute pictures.

I went to the doctors last week and I am scheduled to deliver on December 27! I could not be more happy. I wanted to be home for all the holidays and it looks like I will be. Unless of course Corbin decides to come on Christmas! BOO-HOO
I cannot believe that we are so close to having another child. Time flies.
Here I am with exactly 3 weeks until delivery time.

I think pregnant belly pictures are silly! Good to have for memories though.

I am now almost 34 weeks and we are so so so excited to have another precious child in our family. I am not due until January 2 but we are really hoping he comes the end of next month. Ryan has told me to tell the doctor that I need to have the baby on December 30 or 31 for a couple of reasons. One being for the tax money. I know selfish. The other reason, Ryan has a ridiculous job. He is not allowed to take off any days the last 2 weeks of the month. You would think they would understand the fact that his wife is having a baby but NOPE! He barely got two days off when I had Eva, May 26. He did not even get to take me home from the hospital. Which I was quite upset by. So, the point is, if I had him Dec. 31 Ryan would be able to take the beginning of January off and he would be able to take me home from the hospital.
Anyway, here is a picture of me at 33 weeks-

Sometimes I wonder how children can be so smart. It makes me wonder if I am wise enough to raise a child. Every day I am amazed with what Eva can do and how fast she learns. She can say so many words and has started putting them together. She knows exactly what she wants and won't have it any other way.

What is most amazing to me is her ability to remember things. Everytime I put her in her highchair to eat she puts her spoon down, folds her arms and says, "prayer.?" How she remembers this everythime is beyond me. I often forget to say a prayers when I eat but miss Eva never forgets. What an amazing example she already is.

Also, she can open just about anything with a lid. I found this out the hard way.

Yes, this is finger nail polish. I knew she could open lotions, travel shampoo, markers, etc but fingernail polish! It has now been hidden from my very mischievious child.

Also, I can't decide if this is a good thing or not. Eva is quite the little mother already. She carries a doll, doll blanket, and a bottle around all day everyday. I am thinking she is going to want to be the mother of her younger bother. YIKES! This could be rough and tumble.

Old Pics and Black Island

So the other day I found an old memory card for our camera with pictures of Eva on it that we never got printed. It was so fun to see these pictures. I cannot believe how much she has grown and how much energy she has.

And this is Eva now. Stilll cute but very CRAZY!

This week we went to Black Island Farms with the Crandall's. We had tons of fun riding the hayride and playing in the courtyard.

At home with the pumpkins. We got the Tigger costume from a neighbor. Eva loves it!

We bough gourds at the farm to decorate with. Eva was very intrigued by them. She played with them for at least a half an hour. She would have played with them longer but we were hungry so we took her inside.

25 WEEKS and New Flooring

I am now 25 (almost 26) weeks into this preganancy. Everything is going great with me and the little guy.

Thanks to a wonderful neighbor we now have beautiful wood flooring in our kitchen instead of nasty poo carpet!!! Honestly who puts carpet in a kitchen? I would have to say we got this wood flooring just in time because Eva is now in the phase of throwing all unwanted food onto the floor. Who really wants to clean french toast, pudding, macaroni, pasta, pizza, etc off of carpet? NOT I!!!

Charming Home

So lately I have decided that I live in a charming home.

I love the fact that I can reach both sides of the kitchen without taking a step
The dining area only has enough room for a small table where we practically sit on each other
The gas oven/stove and the fact that the oven is too small to use regular sized cookie sheets
Washing dishes by hand especially when Ryan and I wash them together like the good old days
Sparkly ceiling that shine when the lights are on
Rock paneling
Brick lining the basement family room
Double windows
Old light fixtures
Snowball trees
Lilac bushes

As you can see I love my home and could go on all day.

Although it is charming it is also old and needs some updates and remodeling.

Fun Week

On Monday, Ryan and I celebrated our third wedding anniversary. We went on a good old fashion date. We packed a picnic, tennis rackets and the foxtail and then we rode our bikes to the West Point park. We had so much fun playing and eating until a rotten band showed up and they were swearing every other word. We left rather quickly. After the park we went on a bike ride and then went home.

Today is Ryan's 25th birthday! I love birthdays but the bummer is he is going to be gone all day! All is good because we are celebrating it next Thursday. Not sure what the plan is but he is going to fly/ride in an airplane for one hour. He is stoked!

Surprise I am PREGNANT! I just found out today that baby Crandall #2 is a boy. I am so, so, so excited!!!! Everything is looking good with both me and the baby.

Bad Luck

Last Thursday when I was leaving my sisters house I jumped down the last 2 stairs, out of four, in her garage and happened to land directly on a small rock, the only rock in the whole garage! This small rock caused me to fracture 2 bones in my right foot and to wear a boot for possibly 4 weeks. I really did not think it was more than a sprain. That night I drove home, BAD idea, went to relief society then iced it. Ryan kept trying to convince me to go to the doctors and when I woke up the next morning and could not walk I decided to go.

When I went to get things ready for the doctors I could not find my wallet anywhere! I always keep it in the diaper bag but it was gone. I started thinking back of places I had gone previously. I remember taking it out of the diaper bag at Ben Franklin's, in Kaysville, because Eva kept dumping things out. I called Ben Franklin's to see if they had seen it. They had not seen it but I was informed that a lady called in saying she had my wallet. The crazy thing is she made it all the way to Idaho with my wallet. She was shopping at Ben Franklin with her sister and they kept assuming the wallet was the other sisters. So now I had no wallet for my doctors appointment. Thankfully I have awesome sisters who helped me out.

While at the doctors my sandal broke. Of course it was my left foot sandal. Honestly, I only need one shoe why did the left one have to break?

Swimming with Cousins

We celebrated Eva's birthday last week and it was tons of fun. Eva was not interested in the cake or the presents but was interested in the pizza. She carried around a piece of pizza all night.

We gave Eva a playhouse for her birthday. It is actually an hold shed we already had but we painted it and added some carpet. We were happy with how it turned out.

Vacation

Ryan and his brother, Kevin, had a crazy idea of going to a NASCAR race. So, in February Ryan and I went on vacation with Kevin and his wife, Lara, to a NASCAR race. The race was in California so we decided to stay a couple nights in Vegas as well as California. It was fun to get a way for a bit and enjoy the sunshine.

This is us at the NASCAR race. I have to admit I did have fun. I was not excited about going to a NASCAR race but it is much more exciting actually being there versus watching it on t.v.

Each one of us was cheering for a racer. I was cheering for Dale Earnhardt Jr., Ryan - Ryan Newman, Kevin - Jeff Gordon and Lara - Casey Mears. It was a bit dissipointing because Jeff Gordon was the only one of our racers who finished the race.

We were trying to find someone who had the same size of hands as ours. Ryan fit Matt Damon's and mine were the same size as Emma Watson.

Hanging out at the beach! I absolutely love the beach! It is so relaxing and beautiful and the palm trees are gorgeous.

There is something about water that i just love but i am not quite sure what it is.

Sweet Baby Eva

Our sweet Eva is nine months olds today. Time sure does fly. She had her nine month check-up today and she is healthy and is growing soo big. She weighs 17lbs 4 oz (21 %), is 27" tall (30%) and her head is 17.5" (64%). She may be small but she makes up for it with her spunky personality. We love having her in our family and can't imagine life without her.

Maybe she is crazy because we feed her sugar?!

Yes, that is Ryan dangling from the helicopter. Don't worry, he was not hurt. He is a member of the Davis County Sheriff's Search and Rescue team. He had a chance to do some training with the Life flight crews and was used as a patient in a mock rescue. He enjoys doing what he can to help others. He stays busy with search and rescue, which is good. It gets him outside where he likes to be, even if it means he has to spin around in a bag under a helicopter, 300 feet in the air.

Nothing new has happened at the Crandall home so here is more about Eva. She is such a cute sleeper. She has slept on her stomach with her bum in the air since she was only a month old. We love to sneak into her room and watch her sleep because she looks so peaceful and cute.
Eva loves to stand up! She was so proud of herself when she stood up in her crib for the very first time. We have recently lowered the crib mattress for obvious reasons. She uses anything to stand up: the couch, chair, bike, buggy, parents, t.v. cuboards and much more. When she is not standing she is crawling and occassionaly on all fours. She climed up some stairs the other day and her third tooth is coming in. It is quite the rare occassion for her to hold still. All I can say is Eva is growing up to fast and I am tired.

Eva with her cousins on Christmas Day. Lucas is 9.5 months old, Eva 7 months old and Aubree is 5 months old. Right now they don't really play together and as you can see Eva likes to attack. We hope that someday they will be great friends.

Chambers Family Christmas Party

Every year the Chambers have a family Christmas Party. We ate, played games, tied a quilt, the children performed the navitity and opened pajamas made by Grandma Chambers. It is so mch fun to get everyone together each year to celebrate Christmas. It was especially fun this year becuase Eva got her first pair of Christmas pajamas.

Grandma Crandall bought these girls santa hats for Christmas. We had lots of fun taking tons of pictures of the girls in the hats. They looked so cute together. They did really well until Eva was done smiling for the pictures and decided it was time to beat Avree up. Sometimes I wonder what her parents are teaching her!

Thats Mrs. Crandall to you! On December 11, 2009 I graduated from Weber State University. I graduated in Elementary and Special Education.
I had fun in college, learned lots and met a lot of great people but it is sooooo nice to finally be done. As of right now I am staying home with my beautiful daughter and focusing on being a wife and mother. I am not currently teaching but some day I will have my dream job and I will be known as Mrs. Crandall.

I would like to thank my family for all their support they gave me during my schooling. A special thank you to my husband, Ryan, who supported me through school even though he thinks its absurd for me to go through all this schooling and then decide to stay home. He may not understand but it makes sense to me.

Peek-a-Boo

Our rambunctious, energetic, darling Eva is now 6 months old. She has 2 teeth, has had the flu and 2 ear infections. She had her 6 month appointment yesterday. She weighs 16 lbs 2oz and is 24.5 in tall. Her height is in the 10th percentile and her weight is in the 50th percentile. She is healthy but petite. Although she is small she knows she is the queen of the house.
She is not quite crawling but that does not stop her from getting into EVERYTHING! She has pulled 2 bulbs off the tree, destroyed every paper in sight, unfolded stacks of folded clothes, massacred game cards, and climbed onto many things. We can no longer leave her alone. She is so full of energy and life it is hard to keep up with her. We are so thankful for her and love her very much!

I love Christmas! On November 27 we put up our Christmas tree and all of our decorations. I love that we have a house this year with a big front window, I love that we have a beautiful daughter to celebrate with, I love the smell, the shopping, family gatherings, lights, movies, music, presents, my husband and the snow but only for about a month. So, basically I enjoy everthing about Christmas.

We went to the Clearfield turkey shoot with the Crandall family. Athough we did not win a turkey we still had fun. While we were there we were lucky enough to have our picture taken by Standard Examiner. If you would like, we can auotgraph the photo for you because one day we will be famous.

College Career

So, the other night I made a paper chain for the days I left until I graduate from college. Nope I am not excited to graduate! Not at all!
From November 7 until December 11, the day I graduate, I have more days left when I am not in school then days when I am in school. What a great feeling! I thought this day would never come!

I have 16 days of school left and 18 days of no school. In case you were wondering, the purple paper represents the days I have school and the white paper represents the days I do not have school.

We went to the Black Island Farms corn maze with the Crandall Family. We also went on the hay ride and got pumpkins. It was fun and Eva did really good until the very end when she started screaming for no apparent reason and did not stop until we got home. We carved the pumpkins from the hayride with the Crandalls. Ryan's looked really cool and mine looked cool until it broke. Better luck next year.
Eva was the cutest pumpkin I've ever seen. She wore this on Halloween. When you lay her on her stomach she now tries to fly. She puts her arms straight out and her legs up and then gets really excited. Its super cute.

Later she became a pink leopard.

We had a great Halloween this year and look forward to another one next year!

Eva's Crazy Hair

Eva does not have a lot of hair but she does have this funny tuft of hair in the back that makes us laugh. I have decided that hardly any hair can be just as funny as lots of hair. These are pictures of her hair after we were done feeding her.

On Halloween her hair went into a mohawk while Ryan was feeding her.
